1955 First official dyslexic in the canton of Vaud – this permitted being bad at everything … and to understand those with difficulties.
1962 Federal maturity exam.
1962-66 Socialization through military service and disabled children
1967 Physicist-engineer at EPUL (now EPFL) to become biologist.
1968 Very important.
1969 Certificate of Molecular Biology at Geneva to become biophysicist. Began to study electron microscopy of DNA, which remains my main topic.
1973 Thesis in biophysics at Geneva and Basle with Eduard Kellenberger who taught me biophysics, ethical responsibility and durable friendship.
1970 -76 Psychoanalysis, freudian, very classic
1978 Group leader at EMBL (Heidelberg); how to introduce water in electron microscopy. Discovery of water vitrification and development of cryo-electron microscopy.
1987 Professor at l’UNIL, Department of Ultrastructural Analyis.
1998 Président of the Biology section with the chance to perform this assignment with Nicole Galland and Pierre Hainard, and to live at a moment when interesting things were happening in biology in Lausanne.
2002 End of the assignment. Sabbatical in Australia, Germany and Paris.
2004-7 Maturation of CEMOVIS (cryo-electron microscopy of vitreous sections).
2007 June Retirement Colloquium.
2007 => Host of the Dpt. of Ecology and Evolution. Science and Society for elderly.

With all respect, I want to share a life experience with you: I’ve bipolar disorder and probably autism syndroms, I’ve 2 years of treatments with different specialists. There were people called me « crazy » and told me « you can’t do science ». It’s difficult say to the « world » you have a special functionality, but I want write to you: THANKS, because you are a wonderful example of people with a special funcionality that you managed to dedicate yourself to your career and was rewarded for your dedication no matter the obstacles.

J’éprouve la même gratitude et la même admiration pour lui et j’espère que ses filles ont pu prendre connaissance de votre message.
Je ne peux que souhaiter à tous les élèves en difficulté de rencontrer un personnage de cette trempe, J’ai aussi pu bénéficier de son soutien et je lui en doit reconnaissance à vie.

Schämen Sie sich Professor, der vom Menschen verursachte CO2 Ausstoss ist mit dem Linoleumboden eines mehrstöckigen Hauses zu vergleichen! Wollte man wirklich das CO2 in der Atmosphäre reduzieren, müsste man die Weltmeere trocken legen >95% des CO2!!
Und dafür haben Sie studiert, damit Ihnen ein einfacher Chauffeur des ÖV entgegensteht?!
Shame you….Ihnen ist weder die Natur noch der Mensch wichtig, Ihnen sind die Gelder und der Ruhm wichtig, bestimmt aber nicht die Wahrheit!

À le!!!!! professeur Jacques continue avec l’amour x la science, le savoir et les problématiques du monde actuel. Il faut conserver le dynamisme, la curiosité et le esprit ouvert des adolescentes (d’accord à notre santé et conditions bien sûre).
Nous pourrons sauver notre petite et grandiose planète Terre?? hum j’espère, est ce qu’est trop tard?? à voir. Est ce que nous réussirons à transmettre un bon héritage libre de la pollution de la mer, de l’air, de la terre, de l’espace cosmique à nôtres fils et petits fils, ahhh!! il sera un autre chapitre du livre de la vie et l’humanité (si on peut dire comme ça). Chacun à ajouter sa coopération x le bon fin.
